The American Truckers Webring is a recently formed Web group that helps truckers to communicate their ideas to their unions. Truckers are usually on the road for most of the year and therefore cannot make it to much of their union meetings. It is hard for them to voice their concerns and be heard. Well, with the way technology is today, they can now access the Internet from the road and get on their e-mail. From there, they send out the messages to the Webring and it gets forwarded to the proper unions. The union then takes into consideration what is said and makes changes accordingly.

The Addition of Local Truckers Rights

Local trucker rights are just the same as any other trucker rights. They get the same kind of rights that the trucking associations also get for their members. There is a slight difference for interstate drivers and local drivers. Interstate drivers are protected by a national association, but local drivers are not always. The local drivers have to sign up with a union in order to get the benefits. If they do not, they will get mistreated by the companies that they work for. Now, this is not always the case. If you are a local driver, make sure you are getting all of your rights.

ATA: American Trucking Association

The ATA is the American Trucking Association. This is the biggest union in the United States right now that is solely dedicated to getting rights for truckers. It used to be that the Teamsters were the best, but since their scandal, the ATA has taken over. The ATA does everything from providing healthcare, to getting the employees pay raises. They do a lot of things for truckers and this is all due to their dedication for fair treatment. The ATA will put lobbyists into Congress to get laws passes. They have the best lawyers, consultants, and everything else. It is a great organization.

The Difference in Teamsters Rights

Is there a difference between Teamsters rights and other truck union rights? The answer is, not really. But, Teamsters do get it better due to their strike in 1982. At that time, there were no unions for truckers. They were mistreated by the companies and did not make a lot of money. All of them went on strike for better wages and after six months of negotiations, the big companies gave in. The Teamsters were the ones that made the biggest push. Therefore, the Teamsters reaped most of the benefits from the companies. They get their members more pay and more time off.

A Look at the Arizona Trucking Association

The Arizona Trucking Association is one of the newest trucker groups that have been formed in recent years. Many trucking companies have begun to move to Arizona because it is cheaper now in Arizona than in many other states. But, times are always changing, so these trucking companies could be gone by next month. Anyway, the Arizona Trucking Association was formed to make sure that the workers are getting their benefits and also not getting their rights violated. If they do, the association will come in and assess penalties to the company. If the company does not adjust its ways, then it all goes to court.

A Word About the American Truckers Legal Association

The American Truckers Legal Association was formed to help truckers fight against the way they were treated. The truckers hired lawyers to look over the laws in order to get them a bill of rights. The committee that was formed was full of prominent lawyers that fought for truckers all the way to the Supreme Court. From there, they were able to draw a bill of rights for truckers that all companies now must obey. It was a long 10 year process, but truckers today are much better off than they were 10 years ago. All of this was due to the American Truckers Legal Association.

There is a Trucker Bill of Rights?

Did you know that there is a Trucker Bill of Rights? Well, I had no clue either until I decide to do some research on it. Here is what I found out. Truckers have a right to safety in the workplace. Truckers have a right to equal treatment under the law. Truckers have freedom from self-incrimination and unreasonable search. Truckers have the right to self defense. Constitutional rights are inviolable. Sounds pretty much like basic human rights to me. But, this bill of rights was not implemented until 20 years ago. It came about to protect truckers from being used by the other people.
